Elizabeth Whittall, 101, died Aug. 21, 2010.
She was born in Jersey City, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1930. She taught in a school for Muslim girls in Damascus, Syria. She was active in Planned Parenthood in Connecticut, Virginia and Vero Beach.
She was a member of the Community Church and choir. She was a founding board member of the Vero Beach Choral Society and the Indian River Symphonic Association.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Whittall Hoadley, of Brookside, N.J.; son, Herbert Vreeland Whittall, of Vero Beach; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Whittall. Memorial contributions may be made to Indian River Habitat for Humanity, 4568 N. U.S. 1, Vero Beach, FL 32967.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
