Seeking items for Community Food & Outreach Center

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Community Food & Outreach Center is seeking the community’s help.  If you, or someone you know, can help with these items, they would appreciate it.   Needs Update is listed below: (1) Repair Box Truck – The immediate priority is to repair the box truck that is  used to pick up bread and other food for the Outreach Center.  The truck is disabled due to two worn out suspension springs and will need to be repaired prior to entering back into service. (2) Food drives for the emergency food pantry (3) Coolers and freezers to provide additional storage for meats, dairy products, and fresh produce (4) Shopping carts (5) Book drives for their Fall Read and Feed Program If you can help with these items, please call  Scott George at the Community Food & Outreach Center, (407) 808-2081 or Austin Hunt at Harvest Food Outreach Center, (772) 663-6275

Woman hurt after truck flips onto home

SEBASTIAN — An unidentified woman was hurt after she was ejected from a truck that veered off the roadway and flipped onto a residence late Sunday, fire rescue crews said. The truck went into the air and hit the side of the garage, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jamie Coleman said. The force of the crash caused the woman to be thrown from the truck, through the windshield and through the garage's window. She was found on the garage floor, where authorities said she landed. No one inside the home was injured, Coleman said. Tree worker seriously hurt after falling from bucket truck

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A tree company worker has broken bones after falling at least 10 feet from a bucket truck Thursday, fire rescue crews said. Indian River County Fire Rescue crews responded to the incident at 10:17 a.m. in the 1100 block of 20th Street, Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The man fell 10 to 15 feet at a worksite. Kofke said the man, in his 30's, suffered a possible broken leg and other broken bones. The man was conscious when he was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Kofke said. It was unclear what town the man lives in. No further details were immediately available.

Vero bicyclist seriously hurt in two-vehicle crash

VERO BEACH — A 40-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after crashing into the side of a truck and being run over by a rear tire, police said. The unidentified Vero Beach woman was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Vero Beach police spokesman Master Officer Darrell Rivers said. Officers were working to notify the woman's next of kin. "She has several broken ribs," Rivers said. Rivers said the woman violated the right of way of the truck, which had a green light.
