Teen Writers Workshop to help students write essays for college

VERO BEACH – A Teen Writers Workshop – How to Write Winning Essays for College and Scholarships, will be offered Saturday, August 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Environmental Learning Center’s Lagoon Room.

Guest speaker Dr. Kevin McCarthy, Professor Emeritus of English and Florida History at the University of Florida, will teach you how to write essays that will help you “sell” yourself to colleges and scholarship committees.  The free workshop, for students in grades 9 to 12 or home-schooled will also include door prizes and snacks.

The August 2010 workshop is funded by a grant from Suzanne Bertman and is sponsored by the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation, College Application Consultants, Inc. and the Charlotte Terry Real Estate Group of Alex MacWilliam.

Fellsmere is among several Florida towns that will receive an infrastructure award that will go toward restoration and improvement projects following the damage left behind by the 2017 Hurricane Irma, state officials said Friday.
