INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Eleven Indian River County water customers on 21st Place SW will be without water starting at 8:30 a.m. June 2. The outage is expected to last for four hours and will require residents to boil their water after water service returns.
The outage is needed in order for crews to replace a hydrant and a water valve, which is expected to provide improved water service to those customers. Upon restoration of water service, the Indian River County Utilities Department advises that all water used for the following be boiled (a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient):
Drinking
Cooking
Making ice
Brushing teeth
Hand washing dishes
Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
This boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The department is unable to provide an exact time of survey completion, though it should be no more than 72 hours.
A rescission notice will be distributed.
