Every driver likely remembers spending a few hours in the car with that teacher who had an emergency break over on the passenger side. But as an adult, have you thought recently about getting some more training to make you a better driver?
While behind-the-wheel and classroom training are required for teens getting their license, there are also a number of opportunities for adults to get some extra driving safety training. While it may seem silly to take classes that aren’t required, completing these classes will often lead to a discount on your auto insurance in addition to making you safer and more confident behind the wheel.
The most common classes available to adults are defensive driving classes. While you may know all the rules of the road and consider yourself a good driver, a defensive driving course will teach you to anticipate poor driving from other drivers who might not be as adept or careful as you. If you are interested in enrolling in a defensive driving class, visit your state’s department of motor vehicles website or give them a call. Like the defensive driving courses, many insurance providers will provide senior citizens with discounted rates for taking classes that are accredited with the DMV.
