VERO BEACH — Emily Slawski is not your average fourteen year-old in pointe shoes. Emily, who trains with Space Coast Ballet in Melbourne and Hedi Khursandi, a dance instructor at Indian River Charter High School (IRCHS), was the winner of both the Youth America Grand Prix and World Ballet Competition, two of the most prestigious dance competitions in the world.
You can see Emily Slawski along with the dancers of Indian River Charter High School on Sunday, May 16 at 7 pm on the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center stage.
Slawski, a home-schooled prima ballerina is attending the American Ballet Theatre Summer program on a full scholarship and during the holiday seasons, travels to New York where she stars in Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular. Khursandi, who has trained young dancers with the Royal and American Ballet, said, “In my thirty five years in the field of dance as a performer and teacher, I have never come across this caliber of beautiful technique and conviction… for such a young age, she is a true ballerina.”
Tickets for this Spring Dance Performance are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
