Michael Allik, 74, died April 26, 2010, at his home in Vero Beach.
He was born in New York City and lived in Vero Beach since 1993, coming from Milwaukee.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in construction engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1957 and an MBA from Harvard University in 1961. He was a lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1957 to 1959.
He was senior vice president of finance and chief strategic officer for the Mead Paper Co. from 1978 to 1981. He was senior vice president and chief financial officer for Dart & Kraft Inc. in Chicago from 1981 to 1983 and as president of the Specialty Products Group for Dart & Kraft from 1984 to 1988. He was president of RTE Corp. in Milwaukee from 1988 until 1990, when he started Premier Aluminum with two partners. He served as president until the company was sold in 2005.
He was on the board of the Chicago Horticultural Society, served on the Council of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and was chairman of the Dart & Kraft Foundation. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry and finance committee until 2005. He chaired the committee for the building of the sanctuary, music hall and youth building from 2000 to 2005.
He was a founding member of Christ Church of Vero Beach in 2005 and was a member until his death.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Deborah; daughter, Lauren Allik of Vero Beach; sons, Ryan Allik of Chicago, Tim Allik of Natick, Mass., and William Allik of Pawcatuck, Conn.; sister, Sandra McNeill; and four grandchildren.
