Local gas prices continue to spike

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — With thousands of gallons of oil a day continuing to spew into the Gulf of Mexico, the trend of higher gas prices for local residents remains in force.According to information released by the Automobile Association of America, a gallon of gas in the state of Florida was $2.90 a gallon for regular gas and $3.20 for a gallon for premium. Another Web site that tracks gas prices, Gasbuddy.com, lists the average price for a gallon of gas in the state at $2.87 a gallon, that is a 2.6 cents per gallon increase over the week before.Gasbuddy.com said the price of gas in Florida is nearly 81 cents a gallon higher than this time last year and 5.6 cents more than just a month a ago.
