The Jungle Book Kids at Riverside Children’s Theatre

VERO BEACH — Riverside Children’s Theatre’s new program, Schoolsical, will present three performances of “The Jungle Book Kids” in the Anne Morton Theatre, 3280 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach on May 8 and 15 at 1:30 p.m. and May 14 at 7:30 p.m. “The Jungle Book Kids” is the stage version of the Disney movie featuring all the popular characters including Mowgli, Baloo and the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan.

Cast members for the May 8 performance consist of students from Rosewood Magnet School, the May 14 performance cast is from Olivet Home School Association in Ft. Pierce and the May 15 performance cast is from Glendale Elementary.

Rehearsals have been conducted at the schools over the past 15 weeks.  Show directors are Angelo Cerniglia and Kevin Quillinan.

This program has been funded by the State of Florida Department of Cultural Affairs.  Riverside Children’s Theatre is the educational arm of Riverside Theatre, Inc.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
