William C. Correll, 86, passed away at his home in Vero Beach on April 9, 2010. He was born on Oct. 1, 1923 in Statesville, N.C. and raised in Concord, N.C.
He served as a Naval Aviator in the South Pacific during World War II aboard the USS Anzio. During the Korean War he joined the U.S. Air Force and flew 100 missions as a fighter-bomber pilot. After a long career in corporate aviation he retired in 1990 from International Paper Company in White Plains, N.Y., where he was Manager of Aviation and Travel Services.
He resided in Weston, Ct., from 1975 until 1996 and was a member of the Norfield Congregational Church. He lived in Vero Beach from 1996 until his death and was a member of the Vero Beach Community Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Millie; son Charles and grandchildren Kate Correll-Buss and Allison Correll-Buss of Denver; daughter Amy Correll and son-in-law Jamie Smith of Columbus, N.C.; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by daughter Nancy and brothers Charles and Eugene.
