Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra final concert of season

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra will present its final concert of the season at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18 at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.

In keeping with the orchestra’s policy of providing the public with affordable access to classical music, the concert is free and open to the public.

The program includes Rossini’s Overture to The Italian In Algiers, Classical Symphony by Prokofiev, the Flute Concerto #1 by Mozart (featuring St. Edwards School senior Eric Willett as soloist), and Symphony #1 by Gounod.

The orchestra, now in its second season, is conducted by Page Howell, assistant band director of Vero Beach High School and the musicians are Vero Beach professional musicians, teachers, and talented high school student musicians.

A free will offering will be accepted at the concert.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. VBHS orchestra places in top 3 in national competition

A local high school ensemble showcased their musicianship among nine other schools around the country in a national competition in New York City, and placed in the top three, school officials said. The Vero Beach High School Philharmonic Orchestra, composed of 38 members, placed second-runner up in "The Orchestra Cup," which was held March 9 under the 2019 National School Orchestra Championships.
