INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Celebrate Earth Day at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 for a special Earth Day program, Whales in Florida – The Right Whale, sponsored by the Friends of Harbor Branch/FAU and featuring an elite group of speakers from Massachusetts to Florida.

They are called “right whales” because whalers thought the whales were the “right” ones to hunt, as they float when killed and often swim within sight of shore. The program is free and open to the public.
