VERO BEACH — The 25th annual Indian River County Student Juried Exhibition opens at the Vero Beach Museum of Art on Saturday, April 24 and continues through May 23 in the Museum’s Studio Gallery in the Hazel Education Wing.
The free exhibition features works of art created by Indian River County public and private middle and high school students under the capable leadership of area art educators. Each area art teacher selects their students’ most highly accomplished works to enter into this exhibition. Participating students are eligible to earn awards for their works of art. First Place through Third Place honors will be awarded in each of four categories: painting, drawing/mixed media, photography/digital arts, and three-dimensional.
The exhibition will be judged by Peggy Nolan, K-12 District Art Coordinator, Brevard County Public Schools. Nolan also serves in several statewide capacities as the Florida Art Education Association’s Youth Art Month Coordinator and the Florida Art Education Association’s Visual Arts Demonstration Schools Coordinator.
The juried award-winning works will then be viewed by the Museum’s Contemporaries young professionals group which will select, by voting, two Contemporaries Choice/Best of Show Awards for a middle school and a high school entry in the exhibition.
An awards ceremony, open to friends, family, and VBMA members, will be presented at 6:15 pm on Friday, April 23, followed by an artists’ reception until 8 pm on the Museum’s Loggia.
