Thomas J. Rooney, 87, March 16, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Boston and lived in Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Wolfeboro, N.H. Before retirement, he was a supervisor for the New England Telephone Co. in Boston.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen E. Mitchell of Vero Beach; sister, Catherine Jones of Boston; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edith Rooney.

Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., March 20, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Inurnment will be at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose, Mass.
