WWII Navy Armed Guard, Merchant Marine vets to meet March 20

FELLSMERE — The US Navy Armed Guard & Merchant Marine veterans who served in World War II will meet Saturday, March 20, 9 a.m. at Marsh Landing Restaurant, 44 N. Broadway Ave., Fellsmere.

There will be an open menu, so come early and start with coffee. Everyone is welcome.

The speaker will be retired US Navy Chief Tony Reese, from Port St. Lucie, who is now a counselor with the Martin County Veterans Service Office. He will talk about the time they spent 89 days underwater going around the world in the submarine USS Seahorse. With him will be Elaine Penn with the Honor Flight.

The speaker for the April 17 meeting will be William R. Stevenson, president of Florida Sons of the American Revolution, in his full dress 1776 uniform.
