Roland A. Achorn, 71, died March 4, 2010, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
He was born in Rockland, Maine, and lived in Vero Beach for 23 years, coming from his birthplace.
He was a Navy veteran, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and retired as a yeoman. He was a chef at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach for 15 years and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Kings Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors in-clude his wife of 48 years, Rose Achorn of Vero Beach; sons, Roland A. Achorn III of Vero Beach and Roger Achorn of Rockland; daughter, Coral Mae Van Valkenburg of Vero Beach; sisters, Kathleen Rellias of Vero Beach and Peggy King of Sebastian; brothers, George Achorn of Chepachet, R.I., Robert Achorn of Pensacola, Randel Achorn of Fort Mills, S.C., and David Achorn of Rockland; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 12 at Kings Baptist Church, Vero Beach, with military honors by VFW Post 3918.
