Alfred J. Smith, 95, died Jan. 4, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 40 years, coming from Haddenfield, N.J.
He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II and later became a radio operator instructor at Fort Monmouth, N.J.
He was an honorary 4th-degree member of the Knights of Colombus, an active member of his church, and active officer in the Exchange Club and Sierra Club in Vero Beach.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inna Smith; and brothers, Harold, Cyril and Gerold Smith.
