John Donald Staunton, 87, Vero Beach

John Donald Staunton, 87, died Feb. 7, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and lived in Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Summit, N.J.

He served in the Army Air Corps during the World War II Pacific Theater.

He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a member and past president of the Niagra Alumni Association, past president of the National Society of Sales Training Executives and St. Teresa Board of Education in Summit, N.J., and the recipient of the Mother Seton Award.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan Caputo Staunton of Vero Beach; son, John Vincent Staunton of Summit, N.J.; daughters, Anne Staunton Adams of Atlanta, Joan Marie Staunton of New York City, Catherine Anne Misciagna of Reading, Pa., and Mary Elizabeth Conway of Maplewood, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 11 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. A guest book may be signed at strunkfuneralhome.com.
