Margaret Mencke Cooper, 81, died Jan. 3, 2010, at VNA Hospice House.
She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for six years, coming from Easton, Md. She was a graduate of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind.
She was a member and served as a eucharistic minister at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. She was a past president of the United Way, Summit, N.J., and board member of the Easton Day Care Center, Easton, Md.
Survivors include her husband, E. Newbold Cooper of Vero Beach; son, John Bernhard Mencke Jr. of Summit; daughters, Susan Mencke Hanson of Houston, Alice Mary Mencke of Summit and Anne Mencke Lowe of Old Chatham, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN 47876. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 7 at Strunk Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be at noon Jan. 7 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 11 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Summit.
