Indian River Symphonic Association concert tickets now on sale

VERO BEACH – Individual performance tickets are now being sold for the 2009-2010 series of concerts produced by the Indian River Symphonic Association.  The series will begin in January, in the newly renovated sanctuary of the Community Church of Vero Beach.  Although the season opener is later than usual, due to the renovation schedule, the series promises to be an exciting one.  In addition to three concerts performed by the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, we are looking forward to performances by the Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra with Leonard Slatkin, the Philharmonia of the Nations, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, with conductor JoAnn Falletta. All concerts begin at 7:20 p.m.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man is in custody after a double shooting Sunday that left two people seriously hurt, deputies said. VBHS orchestra places in top 3 in national competition

A local high school ensemble showcased their musicianship among nine other schools around the country in a national competition in New York City, and placed in the top three, school officials said. The Vero Beach High School Philharmonic Orchestra, composed of 38 members, placed second-runner up in "The Orchestra Cup," which was held March 9 under the 2019 National School Orchestra Championships. Man charged with lewd, lascivious battery of underage girl

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 21-year-old man who carried out sexual acts with an underage girl after the child brought him into a home, was arrested Monday, deputies said. The man - identified as Cody J. Scott - told deputies he knew the girl was a minor and that the sexual activity was consensual, reports show. The girl, who was 13 years old at the time of the incident, planned to sneak Scott into her home while her parents were asleep, authorities said.
