What issues motivated you to run for this office and what do you hope to accomplish during your term?
Concern for future fiscal sustainability of our City.
Dissect the budget for each Department and recommend savings and possible tax decreases as a result of saving
Run a leaner City Budget, every year
Review, with accuracy, our city sustainability model, for all liabilities and pensions
Return credibility to the council with strong, respectful leadership.
What is your position on the potential sale of the Vero Beach electric utility? If the price and conditions were right, would you support selling? What would keep you from supporting a possible sale?
Yes, I would sell-if all the price and conditions were right. I would not sell if the price and conditions were not right-meaning cost effective, appropriate service and long term viability.
Do you support considering the possibility of merging the city’s water and sewer system with that of the county’s? What factors would you consider in making a determination whether or not such a merger should happen?
Economics; during these challenging economic times, we need to focus on cost, service, quality of water and availability. I understand that there may be a better use for riverfront property, but given our present capital restrictions, including taxpayers, this deserves a long look.
The city is currently looking for a new City Manager to replace out-going Jim Gabbard. What qualities would you look for in a viable candidate?
A number cruncher with proven utility experience and strong management skills insuring that every employee brings a value to the table protecting both the taxpayer and the sustainability of the city… Additionally, I expect to hire a City Manager who can implement our disaster plan which relies on cooperation and coordination of all essential personnel.
How do you plan to work with Councilman Heady if elected to the dais?
The same as working with all council members by being a strong and honest leader.
