Car wash’s coin machine stolen, Vero police seek help

VERO BEACH — Detectives are seeking the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for stealing the coin machine from the RMR Car Wash on US 1 nearly two weeks ago.According to the Vero Beach Police Department, officers responded to the car wash, located at 3306 US 1, in regards to an activated alarm shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13.Officers found that the coin machine had been taken from the facility. Surveillance video at the business shows a pickup truck backing up to the coin machine, according to a police press release. In the video, the driver exits the vehicle and ties a rope or chain around the machine. The truck then drives forward pulling the machine off its base.

The suspect vehicle is a dark colored pickup truck, possibly a newer model Ford, with chrome running boards on each side. The driver is a white male, 30 to 40 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing between 170 and 200 pounds. He has short hair and was last seen wearing a green shirt, dark colored shorts and white sneakers.

On Aug. 14, the coin machine was found abandoned on the 4700 block of Old Dixie Highway. The currency box inside was missing.
