Anne Wickham Chapman, of Vero Beach, died at home on July 25, 2009.
A long-time parishioner at Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach, Anne translated books into Braille for the Red Cross, played tennis until the age of eighty, and enjoyed bridge and crossword puzzles throughout her life. Born in Matawan, N.J., in 1923, Anne attended Red Bank Catholic High School, Sacred Heart School in Noroton, Conn., and in 1945 was graduated from Trinity College in Washington, D.C.
Anne married Richard Haynes Chapman in 1946 and they raised their children in Short Hills and Summit, N.J., before moving to Florida. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together before Richard passed away in 2007.
Survivors include her brother, Henry (Patricia) Wickham, of Springfield, Ohio; four children, Joanne Chapman (Edwin) Einert, of Kennesaw, Ga., John Kelly Chapman, of Vero Beach, Robert Wickham (Veronica) Chapman, of Annandale, N.J., and Deborah Chapman (Joseph) Katz, of Toms River, N.J.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Henry George and Mary Shouvlin Wickham, and her sister, Edna Schock, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. July 28, 2009, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
