VERO BEACH -The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) is seeking volunteers who can transport injured or orphaned wildlife to area wildlife rehabilitation facilities. “Indian River County doesn’t have a wildlife rehabilitation center of its own, so we rely on volunteers to help us transport these animals to centers in other communities,” Volunteer Coordinator Phaedra Kohler explained.  Kohler adds that volunteers will be able to sign up for on-call duty. “Volunteers can tell us which days and times they’re available so that we can call them to help us if needed,” she said.  Interested volunteers who possess a clean driving record will receive a full shelter orientation along with basic handling and transport training. Vehicles for transport will be provided by the Humane Society. For more information, please call (772) 388-3331 ext. 20.
