INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — School officials said two Osceola Magnet students tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the pupils and other students to be placed on self-quarantine for two weeks.
The School District of Indian River County learned of the two positive tests Saturday. School officials identified nine students who came in close contact with the two infected pupils, officials said.
The nine students, along with the two who tested positive, will need to quarantine for 14 days and monitor their symptoms, officials said. School officials contacted the families of the students who will need to stay home.
Officials also notified all Osceola Magnet School families and staff of the incident. Custodians continue to disinfect and sanitize the campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The new cases come one day after a student at Vero Beach High School tested positive for COVID-19. School officials instructed 46 students to quarantine for two weeks.
Those students will continue their education through virtual learning, school officials said.
