$14,000 diamond ring stolen from Zales at mall

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A diamond ring valued at nearly $14,000 was stolen from the Zales jewelry store at the Indian River Mall, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

The thief entered the store the evening of Aug. 1 and asked an employee to see a ring in the Solitaire collection – the most expensive in the store, authorities noted in the case report.

The ring was described as a 2-carat round Solitaire set in a 14-karat white gold band valued at $13,899.

When the employee handed over the ring, the suspect ran out of the store and is believed to have used an emergency exit to leave the building.

The Sheriff’s Office removed from the case report the suspect’s identifying and descriptive information, citing the active nature of the case.
