Charming Grand Harbor townhome is close to marina

Ann and Leven Gray adore Grand Harbor so much that they first lived in the St. David’s Island neighborhood and then moved to Sunset Cove within the same private community. They lived here for 10 years before buying a smaller place in Indian River Estates which is easier to maintain for them now.

“We love Grand Harbor, the amenities here are wonderful,” said Ann Gray. “We were snowbirds and would come down from Annapolis on our boat and spend the winter in the Bahamas. We just fell in love with Vero when we would stop through here.”

Vero Beach – and Grand Harbor – is well known in the national boater’s world, so it is no wonder that the Grays felt drawn to the area when looking for a home in Florida. Grand Harbor’s picturesque, deep-water harbor with a 144-slip marina is just a few streets away from the couple’s Sunset Cove property at 5345 Sol Rue Circle. The luxury townhome is listed with Norris & Company now Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty for $549,000.

The Grays enjoy golfing as well as boating and the property they chose is literally seconds from the course. The hedge in the backyard separates the house from a majestic view of the driving range, putting green and the first hole of the championship Harbor Course designed by Pete Dye.

“We would come out every night and have a putting contest and whoever lost had to make the coffee in the morning. I learned to make a lot of coffee,” Ann Gray said with a rueful smile.

In addition to being so close to the green, the two-story, 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home has its own courtyard pool surrounded by lush natural plantings and brick pavers. As one enters the front door, the screened lanai with the pool makes a phenomenal first impression with a beautiful garden hacienda ambience and a cabana bedroom to the right. This separate suite is perfect for visitors with its own living area and private bath with a walk-in shower.

The master suite also has its own entrance from the pool across from the cabana and the main house is entered through expansive sliding doors which open fully to the bright patio atrium.

When first entering from the courtyard, the welcoming family room which the Grays use for television and relaxing is open to the kitchen and works fabulously for entertaining since it is so convenient to the pool.

Rich wood cabinets, new wood flooring and black granite countertops with matching backsplashes are warm and welcoming. A comfortable breakfast counter large enough for six also doubles as a buffet at parties. There is also a cozy eat-in dining area with a tinted beveled window overlooking the pool. The formal living and dining room offers a wall of accordion sliding doors accessing the lanai making the space bright and airy.

The master suite is spacious and has lush carpeting with two walk-in closets, a large, beautiful bathroom with soaking tub, double vanity, cosmetic table and walk-in shower. The room is a peaceful haven with a lovely view of the private backyard where their grandchildren sometimes play. The Grays say the sunsets from this side of the house are amazing.

The other two bedrooms and bath are up a stairway from the family room; they act as a perfect private guest suite with an additional media area, office or loft space.

Because of the stand-alone townhouse floorplan, the home feels cozy yet it still offers more than 2,700 square feet of living space with plenty of privacy.

Sol Rue Circle is a quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood closest to the north entrance, which allows homeowners to conveniently drive in minutes to the new Publix plaza filled with shops and services.

Grand Harbor is a very active, friendly community and the Grays enjoyed the social part of living in Sunset Cove with special neighbors and friends. Grand Harbor’s close-knit and generous neighbors, as well as the stunning vistas where nature seamlessly blends with the homes and amenities, make this a truly special place to live.
