Holtie A. Stasieski, 91, Vero Beach

Holtie A. Stasieski, 91, died Jan. 10, 2011, at Palm Garden of Vero Beach in Vero Beach.

Stasieski was born in Chicago, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach for two years coming from Glenview, Ill.

Survivors include her daughters, Dian Winter, of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Sandra Yaeger (Herb Hogan), of Vero Beach; sister, Shirley Behnke, of Venice; grandson, Timothy Winter (Sarah), of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; granddaughter, Dawn Winter, of Fond du Lac, Wis., and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3333 Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL 33406 in memory of Mrs. Stasieski.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
