Margaret Anne Simpson Wickel, 80, Vero Beach

Margaret Anne Simpson Wickel, 80, died Jan. 10, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Mountain View, Okla., and lived in Vero Beach since 1986, coming from Stony Brook, N.Y.

She was the president of the Indian River Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century and the honorary regent Treasure Coast Chapter Daughters of American Revolution.

She was a member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, Huguenot Society of South Carolina, U.S. Daughters of 1812 and the Jamestowne Society.

Survivors include her husband, Albert C. Wickel; sons, Albert S. Wickel, John W. Wickel, William C. Wickel, Paul R. Wickel, James A. Wickel, Karl S. Wickel and Matthew S. Wickel; brother, Arthur Simpson; sister, Mary Nell Knowles; and 19 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Chapter-DAR Scholarship Fund, c/o Pam Dolby, 3840 Eighth Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

A life celebration service will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 17 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dick Flick officiating.

Interment will follow in John’s Island Cemetery in Vero Beach.
