SEBASTIAN — Bill Belleville presents “Celebrating the Wild Side of Florida: Portals into Nature, Culture, and Sense of Place” on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in the North Indian River County Library meeting room followed by the Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Library. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following the program and meeting.
Author and documentary filmmaker Bill Belleville identifies natural landscapes in Florida and how writers and artists have been inspired by them over time. Belleville also points out threats to these natural systems from Florida’s unbridled sprawl. He reads selections from some of his books and presents vivid photographic images from above and below our magical springs, our characteristic “scrub” and sand hill, and other habitats that have historically helped us acknowledge a “sense of place.”
Funding for this program has been provided by the Florida Humanities Council and is sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
