Elam David Burney, 73, Vero Beach

Pastor Elam David Burney, 73, of Vero Beach, passed away on July 30, 2015.

He was the beloved husband of 29 years to Linda Williams Burney; loving father of Davy Burney of Fort Pierce, Jennifer and Rich Lyons of Port Salerno, Mitchel and Victoria Burney of Vero Beach, Michael and Michelle Burney of West Hills, Calif., Tony and Crystal Rowland of Vero Beach, and Wendy and Stewart Pierce of Vero Beach; cherished grandfather of Kyle and Tatiana Burney, Courtney and Lance Gill, Kendall Burney, Katie Burney, Ashley and TJ Clauvil, Stephnie Jenkins, Jessica and Thomas Castro, Seth Jenkins, Deanna Jenkins, Amanda and Justin Pennington, Derek Burney, Erica Burney, Zoe Burney, Quentin Pierce, Everett Pierce, and Jorgia Pierce; adored great-grandfather of 11; and dear brother of Michelina Qualls, Charlene Bell, Steve Burney, Timmy Burney, Darlene Qualls, the late Alberta Sims, and the late Jimmy Burney.

Burney, best known as “David,” was a lifelong resident of the Treasure Coast. He served the community as Pastor of Haven Ministries since 1982, and served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed reading Western novels and watching old Western movies. He was an excellent teller of jokes, and a truly devoted husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., with a service officiated by Craig Bridgers at 3 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at the Crossing Community Church, 8103 Indrio Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34951.

Yates Funeral Home of Fort Pierce is entrusted with arrangements.
