Man arrested for backyard target practice with .45-caliber gun

SEBASTIAN — Sebastian Police responded to multiple complaints of gunshots fired in a neighborhood around the 500 block of Biscayne Lane to find a male allegedly under the influence of alcohol, taking target practice at a tree in his backyard.

Kim Legare, 61, of the 500 block of Biscayne Ln., in Sebastian is facing misdemeanor charges of possession or use of firearm while under the influence of alcohol or chemicals and breach of peace.

Authorities found an unloaded .45-caliber Taurus semiautomatic hand gun in Legare’s possession and observed several spent casings and nine visible shots in a tree, at which Legare told police he was shooting.

He is being held in the Indian River County jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
