VERO BEACH — The Youth Sailing Foundation will be sailing right along this season as Dyer Chevrolet, Mazda and Subaru recently announced the recipients of the January Dyer Difference Award Nominated by Charlie Pope, Founder and CEO of the Youth Sailing Foundation, the foundation was thrilled to receive the award.
The Youth Sailing Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Charlie Pope in 2009. The Youth Sailing Foundation teaches children ages 8 to 15 from all economic backgrounds to sail. Their mission is to build self-confidence, decision-making, and the ability to interact with others while learning to sail through the Youth Sailing Foundation.
The Dyer Difference Award would help make a substantial impact on approximately 400 youths yearly with an event held on Saturday, April 18th, 2015, “Wheels & Keels Car & Boat Show.” This event, held at The Moorings Yacht and Country Club will have 80 exhibitors who display antique and exotic cars and boats, trophies are awarded and raises funds for Youth Sailing. This event was attended by more than 700 spectators in 2014. This show is the only south Florida car and boat show supported by Hemmings Motor News and Motor Trend magazine.
Since relocating to the area in 2008, the Dyer Automotive Group has continued its family tradition of giving back the community in which it does business. Each month, members of the Dyer Chevrolet staff meet to review the applications which have been submitted and select one non-profit organization to receive that month’s recognition and $3,000 award. For the Dyer family and the members of the Dyer Chevrolet Mazda Subaru staff, it’s all about helping to make a positive difference in the community. For the recipients, it’s an acknowledgement of their tireless efforts to do the same and a much-needed financial boost to help further their missions.
