Lorraine M. Lee, 72, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully after a 19 year battle with cancer, on Nov. 25, 2014, at her summer residence in Monroe, Conn.
She was the wife of Emmett B. Lee, Jr. of Monroe, Conn., and Vero Beach.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Emmett S. Lee (Jill) of Monroe, Conn.; grandsons Brandon and Ryan, and granddaughter Marissa; brother Herbert Saucier (Rhonda) of Lewiston, Maine; sister Barbara (Al) Wiseman of Minot, Maine; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Born June 26, 1942, in Lewiston, Maine, Lee was the daughter of the late Herbert and Laura Paquet Saucier. She went to local schools and graduated from the Pelletire’s Beauty School of Lewiston, Maine.
Lee worked at several salons until she married her blind date, Emmett, while he was stationed in Maine with the US Air Force. They were married on July 21, 1962, in St. Louis Church in Auburn, Maine. On their 50th wedding anniversary the Lee’s, with their son and family, renewed their vows on the beach in Turks Caicos. In August of the same year, they renewed their vows in the church they were first married.
Lee and her husband moved to Norwalk, Conn., where she continued her profession and worked at Sperry Semi-Conductor. In 1980, the Lee’s started ABC Exterminating Company in Norwalk. She was the general office manager who enjoyed handling advertising and everyday operations.
They semi-retired as Lee grew ill and built a house on the beach in Vero Beach where they spent many happy winters. She loved going out every Sunday to church and the Vero Beach Country Club of which she was a member. She loved to travel and take cruises with her family around the country and world. She was known for making wreaths and planters with shells from the beaches.
Lee reached out to many cancer patients over the years, even while fighting her own battle.
Friends may call Friday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, CT. Entombment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
