INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Senior Resource Association (SRA) received a $20,000 grant from the John’s Island Community Service League to provide scholarships for individuals to attend Adult Day Care.
“We were virtually out of funds for this scholarship program when we received the good news from the John’s Island Community Service League regarding this grant,” said Sheldon Kleger, Executive Director & Vice President of Programs. “We are deeply grateful for their generosity which will provide adult day care scholarships to Indian River County adults in need.”
The Adult Day Care Program, open Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., is an affordable alternative to a nursing home and in-home care. The program is designed for adults 18 and up who have physical and/or cognitive limitations, or who need to be professionally supervised during the day.
Clients enjoy activities and entertainment, receive health monitoring and enjoy nutritious snacks and meals daily. Equally important, the program provides respite to caregivers and families seeking to keep a loved one home.
“The John’s Island Community Service League has been a supporter of SRA for the past decade and we are pleased that our Grant this year will support the Adult Day Care program,” said JICSL Philanthropy co-chair, Anne Melanson. “As the population of our country and our county ages, services provided by agencies like the Senior Resource Association have become more and more important to our community.”
