INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Detectives from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office have recovered property that was stolen during a burglary in January 2013, according to authorities.
Detectives with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office began working a burglary that occurred in the Antilles subdivision, according to a press release. Several Italian-made Armani statues were taken from a residence in the subdivision.
Three suspects, Steven Damora, 48, of Vero Beach and two juveniles were arrested on charges of burglary and grand theft, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Warrants were obtained for two other suspects, David Bowman, 24, and Daniel Bowman, 23, both of Vero Beach. They were wanted for a variety of crimes including grand theft and armed burglary.
Daniel Bowman was located and arrested in Dallas, Texas, in March 2013, according to the release.
David Bowman was found in Houston, Texas, last December, arrested and transported back to Indian River County to face charges.
Detectives continued to work on the case and meet with the suspects, according to authorities. Last week, clues led Detectives John Finnegan and Christopher Anderson to Lake City, Fla., where the detectives searched 38 acres of land comprised of mud and palm fronds.
The statues were found in a wooded area along a property line. The detectives learned that the statues had changed hands several times since leaving the residence, which ultimately led to them being discarded in the woods.
Detectives brought the statues back to Indian River County and cleaned them up, according to the Sheriff’s Office. On Friday night, they were returned to their rightful owners, the Sposato family.
Mrs. Sposato was so grateful for the work of Detectives Anderson and Finnegan that she wanted to get a photograph with the detectives and the statues, according to the release.
“Our investigators are relentless when they lock onto a case,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar. “We are proud of Detectives Finnegan and Anderson for their work on this case. It is always nice to be able to return stolen property in cases like this.”
