INDIAN RIVER SHORES — Four people in dark clothing, hoodies and gloves smashed a front window of the North A1A office of plastic surgeon Alan Durkin on Thursday night, making off with an as-yet undetermined mix of property believed to include equipment, according to Interim Chief Mike Jacobs of the Indian River Shores Police Department.
“It was a mixture of everything,” Jacobs said. “As much as they could carry.”
Dr. Durkin said Friday that no drugs were taken during the burglary.
Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery is located on the ground floor of the three-story Oak Point office center, at 5070 Ocean Drive.
The four suspects’ race and gender could not be determined as of Friday afternoon after an initial viewing of video surveillance. It was taken from the rear area of a nearby building. Jacobs says the video shows the burglary taking place at around 10:25 p.m. Thursday.
An employee at a neighboring office discovered the break-in just after 7 a.m. Friday and called authorities.
Both the Indian River Shores police department and the Indian River Sheriff’s Office are investigating the premises. The doctor’s staff is doing an inventory of the office to determine missing contents.
