VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Yacht Club, established on the island in 1926, celebrated its 52nd Change of Command on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Clubhouse next to the City Marina. Commodore Michael Wisniewski takes the helm from Past Commodore Frank Bilotta, and will be joined on the Bridge by Vice Commodore Glenn Rose and Rear Commodore Peter Hollingworth.
Members and guests joined in the festivities as the new Commodore and Board of Directors were recognized in a formal ceremony. The event also included a Pass in Review by the Commodores Fleet.
The Vero Beach Yacht Club, originally formed to maintain a library on nautical subjects, has evolved over the years into a popular local boating and social club offering members a wide range of amenities including membership in the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs and seasonal reciprocal arrangements with other private clubs.
The new Commodore, along with the Club’s new General Manager Shawn Witmer, will “focus on expanding the Club’s reputation as ‘the fun, friendly’ Yacht Club.”
