Sebastian Exchange Club announces Youth of the Month

SEBASTIAN — The Exchange Club of Sebastian is proud to announce the Youth of the Month winners for January 2014, who were honored at the Jan. 22 luncheon meeting at Captain Hiram’s.

The Youth of the Month Award recognizes hard-working pre-high school and high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership and daily demonstrate good citizenship both at school and at home.

This month’s awards were given to Elizabeth Moorehead from Sebastian Charter Junior High School, Cheyenne Ellis of Sebastian River Middle School, and Jasmine Cisneros and Andrew Wetzel of Sebastian River High School.

She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, and helped with the school’s Halloween Haunted House and March of Dimes efforts. She enjoys horse racing and hopes to qualify for state competition. Her teachers agree that she deserves this recognition. She always participates in class and is a kind friendly outstanding student. She is an avid reader who is also extremely bright and highly mature, responsible and helpful. She is a positive role model. Cheyenne loves sharks and wants to become a marine biologist and certified diver.

Jasmine Cisneros is a student in the New Media Academy focusing on new technologies in video production. She and her fellow students are responsible for creating and editing the daily announcements for the school as well as for videoing the Prism Concerts. She is a basketball cheerleader and on the rugby team. She wants to attend Valencia Community College and then transfer to University of Central Florida to pursue a degree in Communicative Journalism.

Andrew Wetzel is in the Honors and Digital Design Academy. He is a very conscientious student and has excelled in and become Adobe Certified in several Adobe programs. He enjoys working out and playing sports outside of school with friends. He participates in the NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corp) program at Sebastian River High School. Andrew is an applicant for the U.S. Navy and his dream is to pursue a career as a Naval Officer in aviation.
