VERO BEACH — It seems like it has become a tradition for it to pour the night before SunUp ARC’s Annual Spring Swing Tournament, threaten to rain in the early hours, and then turn into a beautiful day.
Saturday, April 20, held true to form from previous years. We also have a wonderful tradition, which is having Patricia Moody sing & sign the national anthem before the tournament starts. Everyone agrees that is the perfect way to send the 96 dedicated golfers off to the links.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the following: our Presenting Sponsor, George E. Warren, Director of Golf Bela Nagy and Sandridge Golf Club, and the super important people behind the scenes: Ray & Linda Hengerer, HEAD Volunteer Doug Clement, and Mike Cavey with all his fantastic volunteers from Home Depot.
It goes without saying that we are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated prizes, was a sponsor, had a tee box sign, or played in the tournament. Without ALL of you, this event couldn’t happen.
The team of Jon Brewster, Roger Walker, Jason Short, and Trey Higdon captured first place. 2nd place went to Otis Hamanes, Mike Banyas, Tom Giles, Jr., and Tom Giles, Sr.
The day brought in almost $16,000 which will be used to help support programs for the special needs people of Indian River County.
