VERO BEACH — The Indian River County Student Juried Exhibition is an annual presentation designed to showcase the exciting work that comes from the county’s middle and high school art education programs at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
Each art teacher is allowed to submit the works of four different students, encouraging them to submit only the best examples and broadest range of their work.
The juried exhibition is open to the students of all art educators teaching middle and high school visual arts in public, charter, independent, and home school settings within the county. This year, there were over 50 entries from 10 participating middle and high schools in the competition.
The awards ceremony took place on Saturday, April 27, honoring every student featured in the exhibition.
The 2013 judge for the competition was Karen Nobel, who is the President-Elect for the Florida Art Education Association, founder of Kids Need More Art, and currently teaches at Pine Jog Elementary, a unique partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County, Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, and Florida Atlantic University.
Presenting sponsors for the exhibition were Jim and Alvina Balog.
The student exhibition is on view in the Museum’s Patten Community Gallery through May 26.
