Community Foundation welcomes Bob Morrison to board

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The retired Chairman and CEO of the Quaker Oats Company, Robert S. Morrison, is putting his experience to work as a new board member for the Indian River Community Foundation. The organization’s board of directors unanimously approved Morrison’s appointment earlier this year.

Morrison is a new resident of Indian River County and said the Community Foundation is an ideal opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the philanthropic environment.

“As this is going to be our home more and more over the years, we know we will want to transfer a portion of our charitable giving here as well,” Morrison said. “When I learned about how the Indian River Community Foundation can assist people like my wife, Susan, and I with understanding community needs in the areas important to us, I decided I also wanted to share that message with others as a member of the Board of Directors.”

Morrison holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In addition to Quaker Oats, he has held leadership roles with PepsiCo, Kraft Foods and 3M.

“We are so fortunate to add to our board someone with Bob’s exceptional skills in business and finance,” said Becky Allen, IRCF Board of Directors. “I am so impressed with his interest in becoming involved on a philanthropic level and his willingness to share his belief in the Community Foundation with others.”

The Indian River Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides donors with flexible philanthropic tools to achieve their current and long-term charitable giving goals.

The foundation currently holds over $9 million in charitable assets, which are being used to build a stronger community through donor-driven philanthropy. For more information visit www.ircommunityfoundation.com or contact Kerry Bartlett at (772) 492-1407.
