VERO BEACH – Organizers have added a new component to the In the Ruff Golf Tournament to benefit H.A.L.O. Rescue and Stray No More, Inc. The event will begin with a Friday evening cocktail party August 19 and will continue with the tournament on Saturday, August 20.
Friday evening, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. join a poolside cocktail party at the Indian River Club. Entertainment will be provided by the Dog Bones, a six piece professional sextet, comprised of four trombones, tuba, & percussion, based out of Brevard County.
This should be a lot of fun for non-golfers and golfers alike to support two great causes and enjoy a beautiful venue, good food and friends. The evening will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres served throughout the evening and a cash bar.
Details are still being worked out, but they may also open up the silent auction at the cocktail party, with final bids taken the next day at lunch following golf. Also in the rumor mill is the potential for a K-9 demonstration Friday evening. If you have never seen one, you are missing quite an impressive exhibition of talent and teeth!
Cost per person is $35.
The golf tournament, which will take place on Saturday at the beautiful Indian River Club will feature a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., the four-person scramble begins at 9 a.m. and is followed by an all-you-can-eat barbeque lunch and awards.
Player entry fee is $100 per player.
There will be pets of all shapes and sizes available for adoption on-site at both the cocktail party and the golf tournament.
During the day, Saturday, there will be a low cost vaccination clinic and professional pet photography. The clinic, adoption opportunities and pet photography are all open to the public.
Corporate sponsors, door prizes, silent auction items and players are all needed, as are volunteers to work at the registration tables, handling the pets available for adoption etc.
In addition, individuals and businesses have the opportunity to purchase “tee signs” for $50. This is a sign that could promote a business or memorialize a sentiment to loved ones, or even just a thank you to someone or something important. Tee signs can include photos and artwork of almost any style, and will be placed along the course where players tee off and will be seen by everyone-it is a great source of advertising.
All donations and the entry fee are tax deductible as both organizations are Florida 501 (c) (3) not for profits.
Proceeds will directly assist animals in Indian River County, either via HALO, a no-kill shelter, or the spay/neuter program established by Stray No More, Inc. Proceeds are split 50% / 50% between the two non-profits and all funds raised stay in Indian River County.
