I.J. Pinkney, 85, died Nov. 24, 2010, at home.
He was born in Pelham, Ga., and lived in Indian River County for 65 years.
He was a retired crew leader in the citrus business.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Indian River County Chapter of the GA NAACP.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Jackson-Pinkney, of Gifford; son, Steven W. Pinkney, of Vero Beach; daughter, Kathy Pinkney-Jackson, of Vero Beach; brothers, I.C. Pinkney, Emory Pinkney, Emerson Pinkney, all of Fort Myers, and Matthew Pinkney, of Camilla, Ga.; sisters, Melissa Redden and Annie Lou Rice, both of Fort Myers, Irene Spence, of Pelham, Ga., and Christen Greene, of Maryland; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel, Gifford.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Vero Beach.
Burial will follow in Gifford Cemetery, Gifford.
