Elinor E. Assante, 79, died Dec. 13, 2010, at her home in Vero Beach.
Born in Easton, Pa., she was a resident of Vero Beach for 20 years, coming from New Rochelle, N.Y.
She taught English and was also a guidance counselor at the Elizabeth Barrett Browning Junior High School (115X) in the Bronx, N.Y., for 24 years, prior to her retirement in Jan. 1991.
She received her B.A. degree from NYU and earned her masters degree in education from the Bank Street School of Education in New York City.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Edmund; two daughters, Renée Mittler, of New York City, N.Y., and Alison (Ric) Wellington , of Greenwich, Conn.; one sister, Marilyn Abrams, of Albany, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Scott Wellington, of Tampa and Leigh Wellington, of Miami.
Services and entombment will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.
