VERO BEACH – The Indian River Mall and the Salvation Army have teamed up to present Snack Time with Santa, a new holiday tradition in Vero Beach. Children 12 and under are invited to bring an unwrapped toy to the Indian River Mall on Saturday, December 4 from 10 am to Noon and enjoy “Snack Time with Santa”. Children will be able to enjoy holiday songs and dance led by Miss Julie from Kidtivities, craft stations, cookie decorating, Snacks from Chick-fil-A and Doughboys Donuts along with complimentary train rides on the Andretti Thrill Park Express. Enter to win prizes such as a free picture with Santa, AMC Movie tickets and much more! Santa will arrive and lead the children down to his enchanted village for photos and visits.
The event will benefit The Salvation Army of IRC’s Angel Tree Program which supports at risk youth in our community with new toys and clothes at Christmas time. For many, the gifts and clothes they receive through The Salvation Army’s Angel tree program are the only gifts they will open on Christmas morning.
“We are pleased to partner with the Salvation Army and the Angel Tree Program for our 14th year. The need for gifts is greater than ever this year and we are using our Snack Time with Santa Event as a vehicle to boost gift donations,” said Ursula Gunter Director of Mall Marketing.
To participate in the Angel Tree Program, companies and corporations can host a toy drive, adopt angel tree tags or place a Christmas tree in a secure, high-pedestrian traffic area or lobby. The tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child who will receive the gift. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. The toys are then delivered to the local Salvation Army Corps and later picked up by the parent to distribute to the child/children on Christmas Day.
“The Salvation Army has been active in Indian River County since 1986 and is committed to the social welfare and spiritual well-being of the people in the area.
