Jessie Lee Brown, 88, of Vero Beach, died Tuesday Oct. 26, 2010, at Fort Pierce Health Care.
He was born on June 6, 1922, in Americus, Ga. He has been a resident of Indian River County for more than 65 years coming from Georgia.
He was retired from Gene Golnick Citrus industry. Brown was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church where he served as a former choir member. He was also a former active member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Pastor Ethel Brown, of Vero Beach; sons, Jessie Brown, Jr., of Vero Beach; Mathin Lockhart, of Atlanta, Ga; daughters, Jessie Mae McCray, of Orlando; Beauty Mae (Ernest) Davis, of Warner Robbins, Ga; Debra Brown Page, Evelyn Brown Bell, both of Vero Beach; Julia Ann Brown, of Cordele, Ga; sisters, Ethel Mae Chambliss, Catherine Ausby, Lillie Pearl Young, all of Vero Beach; 16 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mozelle Davis Brown; brothers, Johnny Brown, Willie K. Brown; and grandson, Rodney Brinson.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday Oct. 29, at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel, Gifford and 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Gifford.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 30, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery, Gifford.
Arrangements are under the directions of Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel.
