INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory that includes concerns for waterspouts and high winds south of the Sebastian Inlet along the coast of Indian River County.
“A few waterspouts will also be possible with the highest threat being south of Sebastian Inlet and from the Treasure Coast inland to around Lake Okeechobee,” the weather service reported Friday.
A small craft advisory remains in effect for all east central Florida offshore waters and the near shore waters south of Sebastian inlet. Small craft should exercise caution over the near shore waters north of Sebastian.
The National Weather Service has also warned that high winds from squalls and storms may produce wind gusts in excess of 35 knots this afternoon along the Treasure Coast.
The ocean swells related to the storm could also increase the likelihood of rip currents. Beachgoers are urged to use their discretion and remain alert to the possible rip currents.
