He also chairs the Professional Advisors Council of the IR Community Foundation.
“I am excited to join and lead the Board of this exemplary community service organization,” said Alexander. “The GYAC serves school-age students by providing them with the educational and recreational opportunities to excel in their studies and in preparation for life. I look forward to helping GYAC advance to new levels of service in the coming years.”
The Gifford Youth Activity Center was founded in 1998 and operates from its facility at the corner of 43rd Avenue and 49th Street. Characterized as “The Miracle on 43rd Avenue,” the Center currently serves students ranging in age from 5 through 18 as well as adults and seniors. GYAC students are involved in various tutoring, mentoring, and other educational classes before ending their afternoon with a period of organized recreational activities. GYAC is preparing these students to excel in their studies, graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education.
