Athalia Jones is originally from Houston, Texas; she has two daughters and two grandsons. During her career with British Petroleum, she lived in various US cities as well as in Perth, Australia and London, England. She retired and moved to Vero Beach in 2002.
When Katrina hit New Orleans, where Athalia had lived for eight years, she felt compelled to volunteer with the American Red Cross. She has continued to serve with the North Treasure Coast Chapter as the Partner Services Lead, Disaster Chair and now as a Board Member.
“Athalia’s disaster experience brings a much needed perspective to our board. I thank her for her leadership in several areas,” said Sarah Tippet Ruwe, Chief Executive Officer of the North Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.
